    Changes for 2013

Race 1 at Pocklington will start at 7.00 pm not 7.30 to prevent runners finishing in the dark! York University AC will join the RRL making 11 clubs in total.

    Changes for 2012
For 2012 the number of clubs  has increased to 10 with the addition of York Triathlon Club and York St John University. The team awards wil be for Male and Female teams. The Open Team award which included both male and female has been dropped at last. This gave an advantage to clubs with very fast female runners as they scored in both categories.

    Changes for 2011
For 2011 the number of events has been increased to 7. There will be six races in the series, at Pocklington, Tadcaster, Easingwold, Knavesmire, Bishop Wilton, and Selby finshing as usual with the Stillington handicap. For individuals it will still be the best 4 to count but from 6 events and for the team it will be the best 5 from 6  to count.

Easingwold Running Club is affiliated to the York and District Road Race League.  The League takes place each year starting in April/May through to July.

    Important Information about the series

Eleven local running clubs compete in six 10 K Road Races at venues in and around York and district. Nominated clubs organise an event in their area and times and places are taken and published for each race. Approximately 250-350 runners take part in each race out of 700 registered runners. Runners compete in their club colours and are given points and positions in categories reflecting age, gender and club.

The results from each race and each year are posted on a results website which helps to add to the interest and excitement of each event. At the end of the six races entrants are given a handicap time for the final race in July, the slowest runners starting at a requisite time in front of the faster runners. In theory each runner has an equal opportunity of winning the final event. In practice most of the runners finish within a few minutes of each other with a final stampede to the finishing line!

A presentation evening with refreshments takes place following the handicap race in July. Awards are made for individual and team categories and rounds off what is always a friendly and most enjoyable series of races.

All events are held on a Tuesday evening with races 2 to 6 starting at 7.30 pm and Race 1 & the Handicap race starting at 7.00 pm (prior to supper and awards ceremony).

The cost is £18 for the whole series.

Participating clubs are: Easingwold, Pickering, Pocklington, Tadcaster, Selby, York Postal, York Acorn and York Knavesmire, York Triathlon Club and York University AC.

See RRL page for the current year for details of events, pictures and reports.
