 Stillington Handicap

IMG_2460.jpgIMG_2342.jpgIMG_2519.jpgIMG_2352.jpgIMG_2459.jpgIMG_2431.jpgThe series finished with the traditional reverse handicap run at Stillington which was organised by Easingwold this year.  Despite being a fun end to the league, a tee-shirt to the first 20 home helps maintain a competitive edge to the event. Success for the club came with Richard Wells, first home followed by Sara Ellis in third. Top 20 places also went to Debbie, Harriet, Bernie and Luke. The evening concluded with the presentation, hosted by Chairman Mark Swinton, with Trophies presented by Janet from the sponsors Sweatshop. As usual, Easingwold, despite being one of the small clubs, managed to make the most noise to celebrate their club colleagues achievements!

Selby 7 July

IMG_1692.jpgIMG_1865.jpgIMG_1957.jpgIMG_1681.jpgIMG_1908.jpgIMG_1976.jpgIMG_1982.jpgIMG_2036.jpgFinal round of the series at the fast Wistow course. The weather was kind and all enjoyed the opportunity to set good times. An excellent turnout of 25 with both team and individual places still to be resolved. 10 new PB's were set with Tash finally cracking the 40 minute barrier. Sally again too a chunk of her best time with Debbie delighted to have broken the 49 minuite barrier - by a second! PBs also for Martin, Becky, Doug, Harriet, Lynn and Richard. Both Open and Ladies teams took excellent 2nd places. Series positions are now available; the Open team just missed a top three place taking forth. The  Ladies had their best ever result taking an excellent second place with the Ladies B a creditable 7th. Top three category places in the series go to Tash, Nigel, Mark, Anne and Ken.

Knavesmire 23 June

IMG_1167.jpgIMG_1157.jpgIMG_1146.jpgIMG_1073.jpgFirst running of this event and some found it dissapointing. Three laps round the Knavesmire with a

seemingly ad hoc start and finish which resulted in a distance of 10.2 KM. An absense of K markers was also dissapoining. The hot weather didn't help forcing a few retirements.23 club members took up the challenge with both the Open and Ladies team taking excellent third places.

Easingwold 9 June

IMG_0392.jpgIMG_0391.jpgIMG_0373.jpgIMG_0315.jpgIMG_0329.jpgIMG_0275.jpgCongratulation to Richard and his team for an excellent event. Many members gave their time to marshall but we still managed to find another 30 to compete. At last a pleasant evening, staying dry for the most and with little wind. An amazing 10 PBs set, some by just a few seconds but Becky and Mike taking nearly a minute of their times. Progress for the open team moving up to 3rd and the ladies again having a great night. Another 2nd place for the A team of Tash, Caroline, Sheila and Sally edging out Knavesmire B and an equally impressive 5th for the B team of Becky, Harriet, Debbie and Josie.

Tadcaster 26 May

IMG_5228.jpgIMG_5581.jpgIMG_5567.jpg/album/tadcaster-10k-about-a-mile-in/img-5312-jpg/Another great turnout with 28 members competing. Also another windy event pegging times back for most but not for James with another PB at 38.48. PBs also for Mike  and Jonathon. Ken followed up his 3rd in category at Pocklington with an excellent 1st place.  The ladies again excelled with Caroline and Sally setting new PBs and scoring for the Ladies A team who took an inpressive 3rd behind Knavesmire A & B.  The men consolidated their position with another 4th place.

Pocklington 12 May

/album/tadcaster-10k-the-home-stretch/img-5570-jpg/IMG_1580.jpgA great turnout with 28 club members starting the event. A field of near 250 was around 50 more than normal and competion was very keen with the big clubs fielding strong teams. The open team holds 4th place behind Knavesmire, Acorn and Pocklington. The Ladies team had a great start being placed 2nd behind Knavesmire with Acorn and  Pocklington close behind. Well done to all, especially Natasha, 2nd lady in 40.00.
