Swaledale Marathon

The annual Swaledale Marathon will take place on Saturday 11th June 2011. It is centered on Reeth and passes through some of Swaledale's finest scenery. The route is 37.3km (23.2 miles) long with 1258m (4128 feet) of ascent. A map of the route will be displayed at check in on the day. The event is a fell run / challenging walk - competitors must navigate themselves and complete the course within 10 hours. It has been organised by Swaledale Outdoor Club since 1979.

It is very popular and entries go fast (within a few days!!). The entry fee is £17.50, which is excellent value for all the food, drink and goodies that come with it.
Entry forms are available from their web site from the 6th of January. Alternatively you can write with SAE to: Swaledale Marathon, 17 New Road, Richmond, North Yorkshire, DL10 4QS.
Entry forms will be posted on 5th Jan arriving on the 6th, the same day web entries open, giving everybody an equal chance.

If you want to chat about the event, the good years and the bad ones see Ken who has done it around 20+ times. Others who have competed several in recent years and have got the bug include Nigel, Chris H, Mark and Paul.  Sarah, Bernie and Anne tried it for the first time in 2010 and all hope to return in 2011.
