POPULAR EVENTS OR SERIES THAT YOU MAY ENJOY

ERC Championship

Open to all fully paid up members of Easingwold Running Club, The Championship runs from September to September each year. There are 16 events with a maximum of 8 to count. There is one Championship table only as results are adjusted for both age and gender.

York and District Road Race League

A series of 6 races for affiliated clubs in the area. Held fortnightly on a Tuesday evening between May and July culminating in a handicap race, supper and presentation evening. A very popular series with around 200 runners for each event from the eight participating clubs.

George Becton Handicap Cup

A two race event held over consecutive Thursday club nights in late August / early September on our 5 K course. Race one is a scratch event and after seeding from that event, a handicap race is run the following week with the winner becoming the George Becton champion for the year.

ERC Cross Country

Using our 7 KM route from Millfield Park, this March x-country run is growing in popularity partly due to the bacon butties back at the Galtres Centre after the event!

Swaledale Marathon

A challenging but rewarding event centered round the town of Reeth, deep in the Swaledale valley. 23 miles and over 4000 feet of climb in stunning Swaledale scenery, you have 10 hours to navigate the route. Run in June but entries are issued in early January and fill within a few days! ERC were winners of the Team award in 2008.

London Marathon

For many, the only marathon to do. The club usually has two or three club entries for this oversubscribed event.

Yorkshire Dales Race Series (formally the Black Sheep Series)

This popular 8 race series runs form May to September. Events are concentrated to the west of Easingwold. Link to website

Great Langdale St Georges Day 10 K

Run as part of our Lake District weekend away in April, club members stay in  local B & B's or Youth Hostel and enjoy the delights of Lake District hospitality. The 10 K route is an undulating one from the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel along the road to Elterwater and back. Remarkably, considering the condition of the runners we have won the team event several times, the ladies in 2007 and men in 2008 and both in 2009 and 2010.

Local 10 Ks supported by Easingwold Running Club

Tholthorpe
Traditional end of season event for ERC members in early September. An undulating course based around the village green and duck pond of Tholthorpe Also recently chosen for the beginners group 10 K final event. Around 60 club members and beginners ran in 2010.

Foston and Thornton-le-Clay
Run for the first time in 2008 the race is organized by Richard Harrison, a fellow Easingwold Running Club member. The course itself is fairly flat with a few gentle inclines run over quiet roads with some on private tarmac farm roads. A figure of eight route and with some other entertainment it is a good venue for spectators. The event takes place in October and usually has a 6 K and 1 K run as well.

Sutton Park
Formerly the Sutton 7, the new 10 K route is still predominantly a tarmac event but has some mixed terrain passing through Sutton Park.
