Club Information

 Location:

Easingwold is a Georgian Market town in North Yorkshire, 15 miles north or York, 10 miles South of Thirsk just off the A19.  Easingwold

 

 

Meeting: 

 

The club meets at The Galtres Gentre every Thursday evening at 7 pm, situated on the edge of the Market Square in Easingwold. The Galtres is a community centre containing a sports hall, a fitness centre, an entertainments centre plus meeting rooms and bar. Galtres Centre

 

Membership:

 

Is open to all runners of 18 and over and junior family members over 11. All standards are welcome from beginner to experienced runners. More details from the Club Secretary

 

Training:

 

During the winter months most runs are in Easingwold for around 45 minutes including short exercises for those that are looking to improve. Once the lighter evenings arrive we take the opportunity to venture into the countryside around Easingwold, both on and off road. We also run from other locations organised by club members as “away evenings” Select "Latest Programme"  for details.  Runs vary between 4 - 7 miles usually in groups of similar ability. Some members also meet on Sundays  in the Galtres car park for a longer, steady run where the emphasis is on distance rather than speed. These are especially popular in the winter months.
 

Beginners:

 

All standards of runners are catered for on regular clubnights but since 2008 a separate Beginners course has been run from spring through the summer for the complete beginners or those wishing to return to running at a leasurely pace. Over 40 of the beginners have since become full members. With club numbers now at record levels and coaches fully occupied organising Thursday training sessions, it has been decided to take year off from the Beginners Group. A decision on future groups will be made in early 2012. Beginners Group 

 

Competition

 

Club Championship:

 

We run a Club Championship through the year starting in September. There are 16 events with the 8 best to count; mainly 10 K distance with the odd 10 miler or half marathon. All the events are chosen for popularity and proximity to Easingwold. The championship results are scaled for both age and gender allowing just one championship table. Club Championship 

 

Road Race League:

 

Easingwold Running Club is a member of the York and District Road Race League and participate in the 7 event series where members run for club points as well as individual places. The League runs from May to July and are held on Tuesday evenings. Road Race League

 

Social Events:

 

As well as the “away evening” we also host one or two BBQs plus a Christmas Dinner. A longer social event is the annual Great Langdale weekend where members travel to the Lake District to compete in the St Georges Day 10K, enjoy some different hostelries and take in a Lakeland hill for a gentle days walking.
